Yearly Awards Voting — Explained

Understand the difference between Yearly Awards Voting and Current Voting

📊 What Is Yearly Awards Voting?

Yearly Awards Voting is designed for Sports and Entertainment categories that have official end-of-year awards, such as league awards, championships, or major entertainment academies.

This allows Ultimate Rankings users to vote just like:

  • A sportswriter or sportscaster voting on league awards
  • A member of an entertainment academy voting on music, movie, television, or theater awards

💡 At Ultimate Rankings, your vote always counts, and Yearly Awards Voting is where your vote has the most direct impact.

Why Yearly Awards Voting Exists

Many Sports and Entertainment categories don't run on a simple January-to-December calendar. Seasons, releases, and award eligibility periods often span different parts of the year. To make voting fair, informed, and meaningful, Yearly Awards Voting is limited to specific time periods that align with how real-world awards are decided.

This ensures:

  • Voters are not voting too early
  • Performances are judged in full context
  • Results reflect true year-end excellence

How Yearly Awards Voting Works

  • Yearly Awards Voting is only available in specific subcategories labeled "Yearly Awards"
  • Each Yearly Awards category has a clearly defined voting window
  • Voting opens and closes to match the official awards timeline
  • When voting closes, results are finalized and archived as that year's winners

To vote:

  1. 1.Go to your favorite Sport or Entertainment category
  2. 2.Click the Yearly Awards subcategory
  3. 3.Submit your rankings during the active voting period

How Is This Different from Current Voting?

Great question.

Yearly Awards Voting

  • Used only for categories with official awards
  • Limited to specific voting windows
  • Mimics professional awards voting
  • Produces official winners for that year

Current Voting

  • Covers categories not tied to official awards
  • Resets every calendar year
  • Usually open year-round
  • More flexible and ongoing

Think of Yearly Awards Voting as formal and time-specific, and Current Voting as ongoing yearly rankings.

Voting Rules

  • You may vote as many times as you want
  • Only your most recent vote counts
  • Submitting a new vote replaces your previous vote

This keeps rankings current and reflects your latest opinion.
